• Welcome to the 2021-2022 school year in the Big Spring School District!  Over the course of the last year and a half, many challenges have been experienced through the pandemic that could shift our collective focus to areas of impossibility.  Whether it be COVID restrictions or just uncertainty in general with a novel virus, challenges were certainly all around us.  Despite that, our Board of School Directors, administration, staff, students, and community have demonstrated the strength of partnership throughout the pandemic to focus not on what isn’t possible, but instead on what we can make possible.  We have demonstrated that together, anything is achievable.  Beyond that, we have demonstrated throughout the pandemic that “Ever, Always Strong” is more than our motto, but a common bond and commitment for our entire school community!

While this year marks my first year as Superintendent of Schools at Big Spring, I have truly enjoyed my sixteen years in the district working alongside our extremely hardworking and committed staff.  Their commitment to providing quality educational experiences to each and every student was on full display last year as they worked to innovatively create experiences in the middle of a global pandemic.  Whether it be teaching learners in a face-to-face environment and those in livestream simultaneously, or effectively creating as much consistency and normalcy as possible into each learner’s experience, our staff certainly worked tirelessly to give each student their best.  Teaming together again this year with a supportive Board of School Directors, quality administrators, hardworking staff and committed families that value education, we will strive together every day to ensure that Big Spring continues to be an exceptional community of learning helping each student to reach their fullest potential.

As we prepare to begin the 2021-2022 school year, I enter with complete excitement for the days, weeks, and months ahead.  I’m excited for the engaging learning experiences that students will have around our Profile of a Graduate.  I’m excited for the incoming kindergarten student that will sing the Alma Mater for the first time and the seniors that get to experience the culmination of their Bulldog experiences.  And, I’m excited to continue to partner with a school community that places tremendous value in the education of each and every student that calls Big Spring their home.  I wish you and your family a great school year and look forward to working together to make that happen!

    Sincerely,

    Dr. Kevin C. Roberts, Jr.
    Superintendent of Schools
