A note from the principal...

Welcome to the 2019-2020 school year!

     Nace Office

Greetings from the middle school!  For those of you who may not know me, I am the Big Spring Middle School principal, Mrs. Clarissa Nace. Prior to coming to the middle school last school year, I was Newville Elementary Principal for 3 years.  At the middle school, our administration, teachers, and staff have been working behind the scenes preparing for all of the new and exciting changes coming to our building this school year.  This year, we will be transitioning to a 7-day cycle that will allow for new course electives and clubs within our daily schedule and structure.  We will be keeping our Maroon and Gold teams in our 6th grade, while reflecting a 7-12 configuration within our 7th and 8th grades.  Along with that, we will be embracing a new mission statement, which was developed by our school leadership team.

    Mission Statement

As a building, we will be focusing on and growing in 3 major goal areas.

    • 6C's and 6C experiences
      • (Collaboration, Creativity, Critical Thinking, Communication, Continuous Learning, Citizenship)

    • Assessment
    • "Culture for Learning"

On a more personal note, I am a principal who loves to frequent events to cheer-on and support all of my students in their extracurricular activities, just as I cheer-on and support my son, Jacob...who is now entering 10th grade!  How time flies!  I reside in Shermans Dale, PA with my husband (Kurt) and son (Jacob).  We love to travel and spend time with family and friends.  This summer, we got to travel to Mexico and Ocean City, Maryland.  My son and I also got to meet Governor Wolf! How cool is that?

At any time throughout this school year, please don't hesitate to contact us with any questions or concerns.  We, as a middle school team of teachers and staff, are here to support you and your child in making the middle level experience a positive one...one they will never forget!

    Yours in education,

    Mrs. Clarissa Nace
