First and foremost I want to day that I am so grateful to be able to work at Newville Elementary. I truly look forward to getting up and coming to work each and every day. When the bell rings and your students turn the corner of the hallway, I become filled with a true excitment of what the day will bring.
Let me tell you a little about myself and the person your child will be spending thier days with.
I was born in New York, at West Point, and moved here with my family at the age of 8. My father was in the Army and was stationed at the War College, to then take a postion on the faculty there, and finally choosing to retire here.
I attended Shippensburg University for my undergraduate, Penn State for my MEd. with a focus in Curriculum and development and the completed an Ed. Leadership program at Shippensburg. During the time I was in school and my children were young, I coached swimteam for many years, to include here as a part of the BSAC program. Unfortunately, my 2 youngest ones did not share in mom's love of swimming so in order tosupport thier passions, i had to leave the deck. I do fully intend to return at some point. I also was a director and choreographer of musicals and a coach to a high ranking dance and cheer squad.
As you can see, my passion is to work with and be with children. I aspire daily to engage them in the leaerning process while providing a safe and academicially rich environment full of love, hopes and dreams. This is my 23rd year in teaching. I taught grade 4 for 12 years and 6th grade for one year. Both in a different location. This is my 11th year, here at Big Spring. I am a mother of 3. I have a 27 year old daughter who has 3 beautiful children, which makes me a Meemz, which I absolutely LOVE! I Have a 20 year old daughter who is currently a junior at Shippensburg University, looking at heading into the medical field, and a son who is 14 and a freshman at Carlisle.
Again, I am so excited to be a part of your child's academic journey.
