Mrs. Lauren Swigart

I have been working at Big Spring School District since 2009. I began my teaching career at Big Spring Middle School teaching eighth grade English Language Arts. After completing my master's degree in reading, I taught Reading in sixth, seventh, and eighth grades. I have been at Newville Elementary since 2016. Despite having taught kindergartners through eighth-graders, I have a hard time picking a favorite age. Every year holds special developmental milestones and educational accomplishments that I love observing. I have a natural love of reading, and try to do so for pleasure whenever I can. This can sometimes be challenging because I also have two young children at home. Besides reading for pleasure, I also enjoy walking through my neighborhood, playing with my dog, cooking, and traveling.
