Big Spring Theater Productions Presents Into the Woods
Cinderella, Little Red Ridinghood, Prince Charming, and Jack (from Jack and the Beanstalk) – these are among the characters in James Lapine and Stephen Sondheim's fractured fairy tale musical,
Into the Woods.
Into the Woods humorously combines a number of classic fairy tales into one narrative. A baker and his wife are assigned a number of tasks by a nearby witch and only after completing these duties will they be able to give birth. During their quest to fulfill the witches' demands, they encounter Little Red Riding Hood, Rapunzel, Cinderella, and numerous other fairy tale figures. What begins as a lively irreverent fantasy becomes a moving lesson about community responsibility and the stories we tell our children.
Featuring award-winning songs and timeless characters,
Into the Woods is certain to please!
Come out and enjoy the show!

BSSD Receives $18,000 in Teacher Grants through Bulldog Foundation and Donor’s Choose Partnership
In a struggling economy, school district budgets are shrinking and teachers are often forced to find new and creative methods to fund the purchase of classroom materials and supplies. That’s the driving force behind the Bulldog Foundation, which provides classroom grants for teachers, and the website DonorsChoose.org, an online charity that connects public school teachers in need with potential donors.
Recently, the Bulldog Foundation partnered with Donor’s Choose and local businesses to provide additional funding for their teacher grants. These grants are designed to assist Big Spring teachers with funding for classroom supplies and materials they would otherwise not be able to purchase.
During the month of October, the Bulldog Foundation was able to approve 55 teacher grant requests, totaling more than $18,000. This included funding directly from the foundation, as well as matching funds from businesses such as Century Link, Horace Mann, and Panasonic, who were able to assist with the teacher grants through the Donor’s Choose website.

Updated Visitor Procedures
The Big Spring School District welcomes parents, community members and visitors into our buildings to observe or participate in a wide variety of educational experiences. We believe that student and staff safety is of the utmost importance. For students and staff to thrive they must feel secure in their environment. Therefore, each building has been asked to post a sign in the office area indicating that parents, family members and/or visitors may need to show a form of identification before being issued a visitor badge. In addition, this form of identification will be held by the office staff until the individual returns the visitor badge to the office and signs out of the building. We thank you in advance for your patience and partnership while working through this new security procedure.
