Big Spring Celerity Fiber Wireless Infrastructure Project

For the past few weeks, construction crews from Celerity Fiber Wireless Infrastructure have been trenching from Big Spring High School, alongside the Cumberland Valley Rail Trail and on Centerville Rd to Oak Flat Elementary burying a fiber optic cable that will connect Oak Flat to the district campus network.  Another project just started will extend a fiber optic cable from the Big Spring campus to Newville Elementary.  The majority of this cable will be aerial on utility poles with the exception of a short underground section on Shephard Road.

When complete in the Spring of 2021, the fiber cables will provide a significant internet bandwidth improvement for the two elementary schools.  This upgrade is made possible by utilizing funding from the Federal Erate program which provides subsidies to schools and libraries to improve telecommunications and information services.
